ALANYA ? Sea, sand, sun and history

Alanya lies on a small peninsula surrounded with Taurus Mountains in north and Mediterranean in south. Sinceit has been right on the border between Pamphilia and Cilicia in ancient times, it has been included sommetimes in Pamphilia and the others in Cilicia. Who established this city, and when it was established, is not clear yet.
Both a beach holiday and a cultural holiday can be fit in the same sack in Alanya ; on one side there appears sea, sun, and the Taurus Mountains with it pine and cedar forest, and on the other the historical monuments.
Alanya Castle is a 13th century Seljukian remnant with its 83 towers and 140 donjons. It takers about an hour to climb to the castle, though you can easily drive up there. Red Tower (Kızılkule) is another Seljuk remain on the harbor ; it has been built to protect the harbor and the shipyard preventing the attacks from the sea, and has always been used for military purposes. The first floor of this Seljukian shipyard on Mediterranean simply by walking on the walls next to the tower-free admission.
